The Safe Work Spaces course offers a FREE and accessible workplace harassment and violence prevention training program designed for you and your employees. Developed by the Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development at the University of Prince Edward Island, in partnership with Employment and Social Development Canada, this program is funded by the Workplace Harassment and Violence Prevention Grant Fund.
Our comprehensive and engaging training meets Bill C-65 compliance for federally regulated transportation sectors across Canada. The Safe Work Spaces course prioritizes safety and respect for all. Our training goes beyond compliance—it’s about empowerment. Participants gain the tools to recognize, address, and prevent harassment and violence in the workplace.

Safe Work Spaces is a free and accessible workplace harassment and violence prevention training program for employees in federally regulated companies in the transportation industry sector. Our training was professionally developed by the Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development at the University of Prince Edward Island, in partnership with Employment and Social Development Canada, and funded by the Workplace Harassment and Violence Prevention Grant Fund.
Safe Work Spaces has been created for employees working in four federally regulated sectors:
- Road and Railway Transportation that crosses provincial or international borders.
- Bridges, Pipelines, and Tunnels that cross provincial or international borders.
- Air Transportation - Airports, Airlines, and Aerodromes.
- Marine Shipping, Port, and Ferry Services.
All of our training courses are 100% free for Canadian employees until June 2026.
Our team at Safe Work Spaces has created Manager and Employee level training streams that are available online and in person. Our online self-paced training is available in English or French.

The length of time required to complete the Safe Work Spaces training program is dependent on the course you enroll in. A breakdown of approximate time commitments is below.
- Employee self-paced learning: Approximately 60 - 90 minutes
- Employee live training course (online): Approximately 60 minutes
- Manager/Supervisor self-paced learning: Approximately 3 hours
